Understanding Red Sandstone Wall Stone

In order to ensure a sufficient amount of protective agent, it is recommended to apply it again after three to five minutes following the first application. If the protective agent is absorbed and dried quickly, increase the amount used. A proper application is achieved when a moist protective agent layer appears on the surface of the stone and remains undried for more than two hours.

When the stone no longer absorbs the protective agent, use a towel or paper towel to wipe off any excess. Before applying the hardening agent to red sandstone wall stone, ensure that no protective agent has been applied beforehand. Since water is the "source of all diseases" in stone maintenance, keeping sandstone dry is essential to avoid contamination and deterioration. Avoid using a wet mop on the surface.

Geological Classification of Red Sandstone Wall Stone

According to the Engineering Geology Handbook, rocks are classified into three categories:

1. Magmatic Rock (Igneous Rock)
2. Sedimentary Rock (Sedimentary Rock)
3. Metamorphic Rock

Red sandstone wall stone belongs to sedimentary rock.

Classification Standards

1. Classification by Mineral Composition (Based on GBT23452-2009 Natural Red Sandstone Wall Stone Building Boards):

• Miscellaneous Sandstone: Quartz content ranges from 50% to 90%.
• Quartz Sandstone: Quartz content is greater than 90%.
• Quartzite: A metamorphic form of quartz sandstone.

2. Classification by Subsidence Petrology

In textbooks published in China, the four-component classification method is commonly used. This method classifies sandstone based on its miscellaneous base content:

• Pure Sandstone: Contains less than 15% miscellaneous base.
• Miscellaneous Sandstone: Contains more than 15% miscellaneous base.
