Hualien Hard Red Sandstone Wall

• Typically gray-black or black
• Hardness exceeds 6 degrees
• Variations in washing affect stone skin thickness
• Dense stone skin with a smooth texture
• Commonly found in round, oblate, or oblong shapes

Nantian Stone (Taitung County, Taiwan)

• Found along Nantian Village, Daren Township, in rock piles stretching 10 km long and 10–60 m wide
• Also known as hard red sandstone wall
• Color: Light black or slightly black
• Texture: Hard, with a fine, orange-peel-like surface
• Appearance:
  • Clear grain patterns
  • Black base with white quartz grains, creating strong contrast
  • Natural shapes include round, oval, flat, long pillar, olive, melon, peanut, eggplant, and irregular forms
  • Smooth edges, often without quartz patterns, but still visually appealing

Processing and Maintenance

• After collection, rinse with clean water
• Soaking in water for 3–4 days helps remove salt deposits
