White Travertine: Tiles, Pavers, Pool Coping and Slabs Guide

White travertine is a natural travertine with a pale, white-to-ivory ground, soft veining and the characteristic small pores of the stone. It gives floors, walls, patios and pool decks the bright, airy look many clients want from marble, with a softer, warmer texture. Ji Yuan Stone supplies white travertine as tiles, pavers, pool coping and large-format slabs, in honed, polished and tumbled finishes, with custom sizes cut to your drawings.

This guide covers what white travertine is, which formats and finishes suit each area, the sizes and thicknesses we supply, and how to care for a light-coloured stone indoors and out.

What Is White Travertine?

Travertine is a natural sedimentary stone formed by mineral deposits from springs, which is why it has its typical layered pattern and small natural holes. White travertine is the lightest colour in the travertine family: a clean white or ivory-white base with gentle veining. Like every natural stone, the shade and pattern vary from block to block, so each installation is unique. Our white travertine is quarried in Italy and processed in China.

Compared with beige or walnut travertine, white travertine reads cooler and more contemporary. It pairs well with chrome, glass, light timber and white cabinetry, and it makes smaller rooms and courtyards feel larger because it reflects light.

White Travertine Tiles for Floors, Walls and Showers

Indoors, white travertine tiles are used for living-room and lobby floors, bathroom and shower walls, kitchen backsplashes and feature walls. Our honed white travertine tile line runs in 305x305 mm, 400x400 mm, 457x457 mm and 600x600 mm, in 10 to 30 mm thickness. The honed surface is matte, comfortable underfoot and hides water marks well in bathrooms.

For a single large square format, the 24x24 white travertine tile (600x600 mm) is supplied calibrated for floors, wall cladding and columns. If you prefer a reflective look, white travertine can also be supplied polished for interior floors and walls.

Choosing a finish indoors

  • Honed: a soft matte finish for floors, bathrooms and kitchens. The most practical choice for most interiors.
  • Polished: a reflective surface for lobbies, showrooms and feature walls with lighter foot traffic.
  • Tumbled: softened edges and an aged, rustic surface for a traditional or Mediterranean look.

White Travertine Pavers and Outdoor Tiles

Outdoors, white travertine is chosen for patios, garden paths, courtyards and pool surrounds. The light colour reflects sunlight, so it stays more comfortable underfoot in summer than dark paving, and the natural texture gives good grip. Our white travertine pavers are supplied in tumbled or honed finishes for outdoor use, with tones from clean white to soft beige.

For thinner outdoor formats, see white travertine outdoor tiles, cut in 305x305 mm and 600x600 mm with custom sizes available. For paving, our standard thickness is 2 cm or 3 cm, with 4 cm available as a custom cut-to-order option.

Choosing a finish outdoors

Use honed or tumbled white travertine outside. Avoid polished travertine on patios, steps and pool decks, because a polished surface becomes slippery when wet.

White Travertine Pool Coping

Pool coping is where white travertine really shines: it frames the water with a bright, clean line, stays cool underfoot and offers natural slip resistance. Our white travertine pool coping is fabricated from white travertine slabs and tiles, with custom sizes and edge profiles made to your pool drawings. Using the same stone for coping, pavers and deck tiles keeps the whole pool area in one coordinated colour.

White Travertine Slabs

For countertops, vanity tops, wall panels and book-matched feature walls, choose slabs. Our large-format white travertine slab range covers interior and exterior work, and white travertine slabs are also available up to 2800x1500 mm. Slabs and countertops follow our standard 2 cm or 3 cm thickness, with 4 cm custom cut to order.

White travertine brightens a space and suits classic and modern schemes; silver travertine gives a quieter grey background that works well beside bold accent materials. Installing and Caring for White Travertine

  • Seal it. Travertine is a calcium-based stone. Apply a penetrating sealer after installation, especially in kitchens, bathrooms and around pools, and re-seal periodically.
  • Use pH-neutral cleaners. Avoid vinegar, lemon and acidic or bleach-based cleaners, which can etch the surface.
  • Wipe spills quickly. Wine, coffee and oil show more on light stone.
  • Rinse pool decks. Rinse off chlorine or salt residue regularly.
  • Order from one batch. Natural shade varies, so buy one project from one batch for consistent colour.

FAQ: White Travertine

Is white travertine good for outdoor use?

Yes. Honed or tumbled white travertine is widely used for patios, paths and pool decks. It stays relatively cool in the sun and has natural grip. Seal it, and choose a paving thickness suited to the area.

Does white travertine stain?

It can if left unsealed, because the stone is porous. A penetrating sealer and prompt cleaning keep it bright.

What is the difference between white travertine and white marble?

Both are calcium-based natural stones. Travertine has a more textured, layered look with small natural pores, while marble is denser with crystalline veining. Travertine gives a softer, warmer look.

Which white travertine finish is best for a pool deck?

Tumbled or honed. Avoid polished travertine on wet outdoor areas.

Where does your white travertine come from?

Quarried in Italy, processed in China.

Can I get a sample?

Yes. Free samples are available so you can check the shade and finish before you order.
