White Travertine Flooring Coating Process

Preparation Process

Before coating white travertine flooring, ensure the ground is:

• Dry and wax-free—moist or wet surfaces must not be used.
• Properly moisture-proofed before paving.

Since different types of white travertine have varying moisture levels, conduct a test application on 1-5m² before large-scale projects. This test evaluates:

• Gloss
• Bonding strength
• Waterproofing
• Oil resistance
• Anti-fouling properties
• Abrasion resistance
• Curing time

Only proceed with large-scale construction after approval and mastery of the full coating technique to ensure quality.

If the ground is uneven or in disrepair, it must be refurbished through rough and fine grinding before painting.

Coating Process (6 Steps)

1. Self-Leveling Application

• Use a wool brush or paint roller to evenly coat the floor.

2. Drying Time

• Allow to dry at room temperature for 24-28 hours.
• Drying time may vary depending on temperature and humidity. Artificial heating can be used for faster drying.

3. Surface Smoothing

• Use 600# water sandpaper with water, or
• Use a waxing machine or scouring pad to smooth the surface and seal all gaps.
• If defects are found, repair and smooth again.

4. Spray Coating

• Use a 1.2mm spray gun with a small air compressor to apply self-leveling coating.
• Follow conventional painting techniques and allow static drying at room temperature

5. Curing Process

• Let the coating cure for 48-72 hours at room temperature.
• To accelerate drying, use a heating lamp or air conditioner.

6. Surface Care & Maintenance

• Apply imported water wax for finishing.
• Maintain by waxing once per day.
