1. Structure of White Sandstone Pavers

Apart from biogenic structures, almost all sedimentary rock structures can be present in sandstone.

• Intralayer and interlayer structures are crucial indicators for determining the type and strength of the moving fluid that transported the sediments.
• Cross bedding serves as a key paleocurrent indicator.
• Granular sequence stratigraphy helps differentiate between traction currents and turbidity currents.

2. Classification of Sandstone

Based on Grain Size

Sandstone is classified according to the diameter of its sand particles:

• Giant sandstone: 2 - 1 mm
• Coarse-grained sandstone: 1 - 0.5 mm
• Medium-grained sandstone: 0.5 - 0.25 mm
• Fine-grained sandstone: 0.25 - 0.125 mm
• Very fine-grained sandstone: 0.125 - 0.0625 mm

In each type, the corresponding particle size should make up more than 50% of the total composition.

Based on Mineral Composition

Sandstone can also be classified based on its rock (mineral) content:

Quartz Sandstone

• Composed of more than 95% quartz and other siliceous fragments.
• Includes quartz complex sandstone.

Feldspar Sandstone

• Contains a mix of quartz and feldspar.
• Quartz content is less than 75%, while feldspar content is more than 18.75%.
• Includes feldspar mixed sandstone.

Lithic Sandstone

• Quartz content is less than 75%.
• Lithic (rock fragment) content is generally greater than 18.75%.
• Lithic/feldspar ratio is greater than 
• Includes mixed sandstone with rock fragments.
