🔧 Expert Outdoor Installation Guidelines

To ensure safe, lasting, and visually stunning results, follow these professional practices when laying travertine tile outdoors:

Use natural travertine or granite slabs with smooth, polished surfaces—free of knife marks, swirling, or damage.

The bonding layer should be either:

Cement sand mix (1:4–1:6), 20–30mm thick, or
Cement mortar (1:2), 10–15mm thick.

Before laying, number and sort tiles by texture, color, and pattern to match the design blueprint. Discard any tile with cracks, warps, or defects.

Align tiles using spring lines set at the width of a single tile from the wall.

Soak slabs in water, then wipe them dry before installation to improve adhesion.

When laying:

Cement sand must be dry-mixed and sprayed.
Cement mortar must be dry and firm.
Cement slurry or dry cement may be applied to boost bonding.

Lay the first row precisely along alignment marks, followed by additional rows.

For best results:

Tile joints should not exceed 1mm, unless otherwise designed.
After installation, allow mortar to cure properly, then protect and wax the surface for a glossy, sealed finish.
You may also use broken travertine tiles for a rustic look. Ensure all pieces are smooth, uniformly thick, and color-coordinated. Gaps must be tightly filled with mortar or a cement-stone mix.

Tiling Tolerances:

Max height difference between adjacent tiles: 0.5mm
Straightness deviation (per 5m): 2mm
Surface flatness deviation (2m ruler): 1mm
Broken tile layer flatness: ≤3mm
