Terrazzo Surface Issues and Safety Guidelines
6.3 Holes and Pores in the Terrazzo Surface
- After machine milling, small holes often appear on the terrazzo surface.
- These are typically repaired using the grout method, where cement and pigment of the same color are used to fill the holes. Once hardened, the surface is compacted and polished.
-
"Two grout and three grinding" method:
- The surface is polished three times and grout is applied twice.
- If the grout is not applied properly or wiped incorrectly (e.g., using a broom instead of wiping), small holes may remain.
- If the slurry is polished before it hardens, the mortar may be removed, creating more holes.
6.4 Uneven and Unrevealed Stone Particles in the Surface Layer
- Causes:
- Poor stone specifications or uncleaned stones.
- Stones getting buried in the mortar when spread and mixed, leading to an uneven appearance.
1. Operator Safety
-
Wear protective gear:
- Rubber boots and insulated gloves are mandatory.
2. Machine Operation Requirements
- The terrazzo natural stone machine should begin grinding only when the concrete reaches 70%-80% of its design strength.
3. Pre-Operation Checks
- Ensure all connecting parts are tightly secured.
- Test the grindstone by tapping it with a hammer—if it produces a crisp sound without cracks, it is safe to use.
4. Electrical Safety
-
Cabling:
- Use a weather-resistant, insulated four-core flexible cord.
- The switch should be a button switch installed on the grinder’s handle.
- Cables should be elevated off the ground to prevent dragging and damage.
-
Insulation and Grounding:
- The terrazzo machine handle must be covered with an insulating tube.
- Zero-connection protection should be implemented with at least two contact points.
- A leakage protector (≤15mA action current, ≤0.1s action time) must be installed.
5. Grinding Procedure
- Turn on the power and water source, then press the handle to lift the grinding disc off the ground before starting the motor.
- Check that the grinding disc rotation matches the indicated direction.
- Once operational, slowly lower the grinding disc to begin grinding.
- Ensure continuous water flow during operation to prevent drying of the working surface.
6. Handling Machine Malfunctions
- If the grinding disc bounces or produces abnormal noise, stop the machine immediately for maintenance.
- Before shutting down, first lift the grinding disc, then turn off the machine.
7. Replacing the Grinding Stone
- After installing a new grindstone, grind it on a waste surface (e.g., old cement floor) for 1-2 hours to smooth the diamond cutting edge before using it on the actual working surface.
- Ensure the grinding block is clamped securely and check the fixture frequently to prevent accidents.
8. Post-Operation Maintenance
- Power Off: Cut off the power after use.
- Cleaning: Remove mud and debris from all machine parts.
- Storage: Store the machine in a dry place and cover it with a rainproof cloth.
9. Electrical Work Restrictions
- Only qualified electricians are allowed to install, repair, or modify electrical wiring and switches.
- Unauthorized personnel must not tamper with electrical components.
