Construction Process

3.1.15 Oxalic Acid Scrubbing

  • To enhance the effect after waxing, the surface layer of the grindstone should be pickled appropriately before waxing.
  • Generally, oxalic acid is used for scrubbing.
  • Preparation:
    • Mix oxalic acid and water to form a 10% concentrated solution.
    • Dip a broom in the solution and sprinkle it on the surface.
    • Gently rub with oilstone to bring out the natural color of cement and stone particles.
    • Rinse thoroughly with water and dry with a soft cloth.
  • This process must be completed after all other construction work, and the surface must remain uncontaminated after pickling.

3.1.16 Wrong Glazing

  • Wrap wax in a thin cloth and apply a thin layer to the surface.
  • After drying, replace the oilstone with a wooden block covered with canvas or linen.
  • Attach the block to a stone grinder and use the same method to apply a second coat of wax.
  • Continue waxing and grinding until the surface is smooth and shiny.

3.1.17 Winter Construction of Existing Terrazzo (300x300 Surface)

  • The ambient temperature must be maintained above +5℃ during construction.

3.1.18 Terrazzo (300x300) Skirting Board

3.1.18.1 Plastering the Bottom Ash

  • Must be consistent with the thickness of the wall plastering.
  • Set square, measuring ruler, and pull line at yin and yang corners to determine skirting board thickness.
  • Reinforce according to the bottom ash thickness at 1–1.5m intervals.
  • Use a short bar to flatten, rub with a wooden trowel, and scratch the surface.

3.1.18.2 Plastering Stone Skirting Board Mix

  • Moisten the base ash with water.
  • Use a ruler to align according to the horizontal line at yin and yang corners and the upper edge.
  • Spread the mixture evenly, smooth, and compact.
  • Brush water twice to remove cement slurry until the surface is lint-free.
  • Cure for 24 hours at room temperature before artificial polishing.

Polishing Process:

  1. First Polishing:
    • Use coarse oilstone, grind vertically first, then horizontally.
    • Ensure gravel is ground flat.
    • Round the yin and yang angles.
    • Rub plain ash for the first time to fill and compact pores.
  2. Second Polishing:
    • Use fine oilstone for the second grinding.
  3. Final Polishing:
    • Use oilstone with oxalic acid.
    • Scrub with water.

3.1.18.3 Manual Waxing
