Terrazzo 2cm: Materials and Tools for Cast-in-Place Art Terrazzo

1. Applications of Terrazzo 2cm

Terrazzo 2cm is commonly used for:

• Floors
• Wall skirts
• Skirting boards
• Stairs
• Other architectural elements

2. Materials for Cast-in-Place Art Terrazzo 2cm

(1) Cement

• White cement and colored cement must be from the same manufacturer, same batch number, and same label to ensure consistency.
• Sufficient quantities should be prepared at once to maintain uniformity.

(2) Colored Stone Aggregate

• Marble and granite ballast should be selected based on design requirements.
• Larger aggregates should be prioritized for a visually appealing texture.

(3) Inlaid Strips

• Common options: Copper bars, plastic bars, and glass bars.
• Glass strips are fragile and require careful handling during installation and storage.

(4) Pigment

• Alkaline or medium-alkaline mineral pigments are preferred for durability and color stability.

(5) Oxalic Acid Solution

• Used for surface treatment to enhance gloss.
• Solution preparation:
  • Oxalic acid (5%-10% concentration) dissolved in boiling water.
  • 1%-2% alumina is added to promote a glossy film on the terrazzo 2cm surface.

(6) Floor Wax

• Two types: Finished wax and self-prepared wax liquid.
• Self-prepared wax liquid formula:
  • Sichuan wax: kerosene: pine perfume: fish oil = 0.1: 0.6: 5:1.
• Preparation process:
  1. Heat Sichuan wax (beeswax or insect wax) and kerosene to 120-130°C until white smoke appears.
  2. Stir evenly and allow to cool.
  3. Before use, add pine perfume and fish oil, then stir well.

3. Special Tools for Terrazzo 2cm

(1) New Mirror Terrazzo Machine

• Used for grinding, polishing, and waxing terrazzo floors.
• Grinding sequence: 60-80#, 270-300#, 1000-2000-3000#.

(2) Portable Mirror Terrazzo Machine

• Designed for grinding corners and complex-shaped surfaces of terrazzo 2cm floors.

(3) Roller

• Used for hydraulic terrazzo 2cm floors.
