Glue Selection and Usage for Super White Quartz Countertops
Introduction
Super white quartz countertops are a popular choice in home improvement projects. While many people understand how to choose the right quartz stone, there is often little knowledge about the glue used for installation. This guide provides essential information on selecting and using glue for super white quartz countertops.
Choosing the Right Glue
- Select glue with a specified color based on the type of quartz stone slab being used.
- Avoid mixing different types of glue to ensure a strong and seamless bond.
Checking the Expiry Date
- Different quartz stone manufacturers use different types of glue.
- The normal shelf life of glue without a curing agent is typically 90 days.
- Glue with a curing agent must be used promptly and stored in a cool, ventilated, and airtight place.
Proper Mixing and Application
- The mixing ratio of curing agent to glue should be strictly followed:
- For ordinary glue: The ratio is 1.0% - 1.5% (i.e., 5-8 drops of curing agent per 10g of glue).
- For pure acrylic quick-drying glue: The ratio is 3% - 5%.
- Adjust the amount of curing agent based on temperature:
- Maximum limit: Should not exceed 1.8% of the total glue volume.
- If temperature is below 10℃: Warm the glue bottle in hot water before adding the curing agent.
Working Time and Grinding
- Ordinary glue: Must be used within 20 minutes after mixing with a curing agent.
- Acrylic glue: Must be used within 10 minutes after adding a curing agent.
- Stir the glue thoroughly for 40-60 seconds before applying.
- Apply enough glue at the joints to ensure a secure bond without excessive waste.
-
Grinding time after application:
- Ordinary glue: 60 minutes at normal room temperature (25℃).
- Acrylic glue: 30 minutes at normal room temperature (25℃).
By following these guidelines, you can ensure a strong and flawless installation of super white quartz countertops.
