You might think that Super White Marble is a white granite that looks like marble because of its sensational appearance, but it is not. Most of the super white marble slab - which looks worn out - falls into one of two stone categories in the United States. It may look like marble and have the toughness of granite, or it may not, and it falls into either of the two categories, according to a recent study by the University of California, Davis. As geologist Karen Kirk points out, super white marble tiles is known to be soft but not as tough as granite, and therefore most suppliers get away with classifying the new super white marble as granite marble, quartzite, travertine or onyx. Some may have been made of white super marble, others of quartzite, which actually wears out like granite. There is no doubt that quartzite, if properly sealed, is valid as long as it is soft and no signs of wear and tear occur on the surface of the super white marble quartzite when sealed.
