Measurement and Data Recording of Sandstone Slate Slabs
From the survey manuscript, each sandstone slate slab's outer arc points are labeled sequentially with letters (A, B, C…). The inner arc does not have small letter markings. When data is recorded directly on the left, it is denoted as A', B', C'…
Coordinate Positioning and Data Logging
- The cross coordinate system is positioned on the left side of the sandstone slate slabs.
- The X-axis and Y-axis form a 90° Cartesian coordinate system.
- The plane value of each point is measured from the coordinate system and recorded accordingly.
- Example: The numerical coordinate of point A (-1623, -660) falls in the third quadrant.
- Distance from the X-axis to point A: -1623 (negative).
- Distance from the Y-axis down to point A: -660 (negative).
- Simple and accurate data logging ensures clean and clear comparisons.
Ensuring Measurement Accuracy
- The ruler must be positioned accurately both horizontally and vertically to ensure correct data.
- A simple trick to prevent non-horizontal errors:
- Fix one end of the ruler and allow the other to swing back and forth.
- The smallest data value obtained represents the most accurate size, as per the geometric law that vertical distance is the shortest.
Height Calculation and CAD Implementation
- Survey findings indicate that the total height from the first floor to the second floor is 3020mm.
- The steel structure's height is evenly divided, eliminating the need to record individual step heights.
- Using CAD, the total height of the sandstone slate slabs is evenly divided:
- Calculation formula: Height per level = Total height / 20
- 3020mm / 20 = 151mm per level
