If sufficient preventive measures have been taken during sandstone slabs processing, the degree of weathering will be obviously controlled. Weathering generally appears as white powder or solid crystals on the grout line or on the surface of ceramic tiles. According to local conditions, erosion often occurs just after construction or shortly after completion. Dissolved salt can infiltrate into the sandstone slabs through capillary phenomena from a long distance, and it is not necessarily only in the erosion site. Therefore, the waterproof material must be contained in the adhesive, grout, sand, and cement.
After the construction, the sandstone slabs is affected by impacts and other reasons causing accidental wear, cracks, and missing edges. After being repaired, the protective layer must be re-coated.
Water-based protective layer tends to slowly form water under the surface of the stone, or moisture appears in front of the protective layer, making the surface of the stone appear milky or fading.
