Modified Polysiloxane Resin for Sandstone Cladding Protection

Optimal Concentration and Effects

The modified polysiloxane resin is used at a low concentration, typically between 3% to 6%. At this concentration, once the protective surface is dry, the sandstone cladding sheets retain their original appearance without discoloration.

Composition and Properties

Modified polysiloxane is an organosilicon compound formed by the condensation of functional group organosilicon compounds. It contains functional groups such as:

• Tetramethoxysilane and methoxysilicon (four-functional groups)
• Methyltrimethylsilane, methyltriethylsilane, and phenyltrimethylsilane (three-functional groups)

This resin, which has a ladder-like high-condensate structure, is soluble in organic solvents and typically has a solid content of 2% to 10%.

Dilution and Protective Efficiency

• Recommended concentration: 3% to 6% (ensures optimal protection without discoloration).
• If solid content is below 2%: Insufficient protective effect.
• If solid content exceeds 10%: Reduced permeability and potential surface discoloration.

Curing Process

• Basic catalysts can be used for room-temperature curing.
• Heat curing (around 200°C) with acid catalysts is the most effective method.
• After curing, the functional groups on the sandstone cladding surface undergo cross-linking, enhancing the protective layer formation.

Application Methods

The protective agent can be applied using:

• Dipping
• Brushing
• Spraying
• Rolling

The coating amount is typically between 90–300g per square meter, with no strict limitations.
