Distinguishing Between Cast Plate and Die-Cast Plate
When comparing cast plates and die-cast plates, there are three main ways to quickly distinguish them:
1. Particle Distribution
- The particles of a cast plate are larger and unevenly distributed, with the backside having noticeably fewer particles than the front.
- In contrast, a die-cast plate has evenly distributed particles.
2. Hardness Test
- Scratching with a hard object reveals that a cast plate has a hardness level lower than 4.
- A die-cast plate has a hardness level equal to or higher than Mohs 6, making it resistant to scratches.
3. Density and Weight
- A die-cast plate has a compact and stable internal structure, resulting in higher density and weight.
- A cast plate has an unstable internal structure, leading to lower density and lighter weight.
Quartz Countertops
Quartz countertops are among the strongest types of rock, primarily composed of quartz, feldspar, and mica. Their dense structure and hard texture make them resistant to acid, alkali, and weathering, allowing them to be used outdoors for extended periods.
Properties of Quartz Countertops
- Extremely hard and durable
- Resistant to water, acid, and alkali corrosion
- Can withstand over 2,000 kg of pressure per square centimeter
- Highly resistant to weathering and temperature changes
Granite as a Kitchen Countertop Material
Granite is a popular choice for kitchen countertops, especially in European and American homes, due to its high density and durability. The material remains stable under heat and is not affected by temperature or air composition changes.
Considerations for Granite Countertops
- Some granite types undergo dyeing or electrolysis treatments to enhance or change their color—these are not suitable for kitchen countertops.
-
Thickness Options:
- 3 cm (1 inch): More expensive but stronger and more visually appealing.
- 2 cm (¾ inch): Requires plywood support and edge trimming.
Granite Countertop Installation
- Custom Designs: If you prefer a unique style, manufacturers can customize the design to match cabinets or furniture.
- Seams and Joints: Due to granite's size limitations, splicing is common, and minor gaps within standard ranges are acceptable.
