Prefab quartz countertops are a modern solution for kitchens and bathrooms, offering both beauty and performance. Made by die-casting with quartz sand as the primary filler, these countertops combine exceptional hardness (up to 7 on the Mohs scale), resistance to high temperatures (up to 300°C), and vibrant, uniform color for a premium surface experience.

While earlier versions were limited in design due to processing constraints, the prefab quartz countertop market in our country has matured significantly. Thanks to the adoption of advanced CNC equipment, challenges such as complex shaping and seamless jointing have now been effectively solved.

⚠️ Quality Control in Prefab Quartz Countertops: Common Issues and Solutions

One of the main quality concerns in prefab quartz manufacturing is the stomatal phenomenon—the appearance of unwanted round holes of varying sizes on the slab surface. Understanding the root cause and implementing preventive measures is key to ensuring a flawless countertop.

🔹 Stomatal Phenomenon: Cause & Solution

What is it?
Stomata are round holes that appear on the quartz slab due to incomplete air evacuation during the pressing stage.

Cause Analysis:

1 . Insufficient vacuum power – The vacuum pump fails to achieve the necessary -0.098Mpa pressure.

2 . Compressor leakage – Air leaks at joints, connectors, or seals in the pipeline system.

3 . Premature vibration – If the pressure plate begins vibrating before reaching full vacuum, air remains trapped, forming holes.

Solutions:

  • Check for compressor leakage:
Close the bleed valve, pump the vacuum to -0.098Mpa, and isolate the pipeline. If the vacuum gauge pointer moves backward, there’s a leak. Notify maintenance for repairs.
  • Use a Maxwell vacuum gauge to confirm vacuum pressure.
If -0.098Mpa cannot be reached, inspect the vacuum pump and compressor for inefficiencies or damage.
  • Evacuate uncompacted plates properly before pressing.
Always ensure the full vacuum level is achieved before the vibration process begins to prevent air entrapment and stomatal defects.
