Authenticity in Design: A Look at Nordic & MCM Furniture
For modern Chinese consumers, the revival of Nordic-style solid wood furniture began around seven or eight years ago. Initially, people were drawn to its natural materials, attractive appearance, and reasonable pricing. However, most of these so-called Nordic designs were not truly authentic.
In reality, much of what we see today is MCM (Mid-Century Modern) furniture—influenced by Japan and adapted by domestic designers and manufacturers. Over the past two years, we have been on a mission to rediscover original MCM furniture. Our products, inspired by 1950s and 1960s Danish and Swedish MCM furniture, differ greatly from the mass-produced "Nordic-style" pieces commonly found on Taobao. While they may share a general resemblance, the materials, proportions, angles, and fine details are vastly different—resulting in a completely different level of sophistication and elegance.
