The use of natural stone in outdoor garden landscapes is widespread, but attention to detail can enhance or diminish its beauty. Although natural stone is heavy and rigid, proper design, processing, and installation techniques can maximize its visual and functional impact.
1. Transition Between Rough Stone Walls and Ground Pavement
Ideal Connection: Rough stone walls or dry walls should ideally connect to a green belt for a natural transition.
If Direct Connection to Ground Pavement is Necessary:
Use gravel or granular stone as a transitional edge before connecting to the stone pavement.
This prevents issues where rough stone walls do not fully bond with the ground stone, reducing grout leakage—especially in irregularly shaped pavement areas.
2. Façade Stone Overlapping Ground Stone
The façade stone should extend over the ground stone to avoid exposed seams and grout leakage in later stages.
Maintain a 10mm gap between the façade stone and the ground to minimize pollution and staining over time.
Note: If the orange onyx marble is larger and its thickness exceeds 30mm, this treatment may not be suitable.
3. Adding a Marble Skirting
Installing an orange onyx marble skirting helps prevent rainwater pollution and dampness, extending the longevity of the stonework.
4. Step Tread Connection to Side Wall
When connecting step treads to a side wall, follow these best practices:
