Tips for Handling Honey Onyx Marble Tiles and Jade

1. Use Transparent Glue for Filling Gaps

When filling gaps in jade, traditional marble glue should be avoided. Instead, transparent glue is recommended because jade has a crystal-clear texture that requires a different approach. Using regular marble glue would make the filling obvious and affect the overall aesthetic of the tile. Transparent glue blends seamlessly with the jade’s natural appearance.

2. Grinding Techniques for Jade

Grinding jade requires specific techniques to achieve the best results. Using an artificial diamond grinding disc significantly improves the grinding effect, whereas abrasives like silicon carbide, due to their lower hardness, may not provide ideal results. Honey onyx marble tiles, with their high hardness and fine structure, are particularly sensitive during grinding. Skipping grits can lead to scratches, which may not be removed by subsequent grinding. Therefore, it’s crucial not to skip numbers during the grinding process. Start from 50#, maintaining an even and finer operation. When reaching 3000#, the jade will display a desirable gloss.

3. Polishing Honey Onyx Marble Tiles

Since jade is a natural byproduct of marble’s deterioration over time, its chemical properties are stable and resistant to change. Using acidic materials like oxalic acid or fluorosilicic acid for crystallization will not only be ineffective but may also damage the tile’s natural gloss. The best method for polishing is physical polishing, specifically by using a sealing glaze. A glaze layer composed mainly of silicon dioxide (SiO2) should be applied. This glaze is crystal-clear and enhances the transparent texture of the honey onyx marble tile, creating a perfect finish.
