3.1 Stone Handling and Storage
- The dark grey sandstone should be free from cracks or damage caused by rolling and collision.
- When storing outdoors, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
- During winter construction, cover the stone with rock wool and move it indoors at least 4 hours before paving for proper melting.
- In the rainy season, cover the stone with a tarpaulin to prevent moisture absorption.
3.2 Bonding Material
- Use white cement or a special adhesive designed for dark grey sandstone.
3.3 Tools Preparation
Ensure the following tools are ready before starting the construction:
- Hand mixer
- 10×10mm serrated trowel
- Scraper, spatula, rubber mallet
- Spirit level
- Mixing bucket
- Brush, watering can, sponge
4. Environmental Requirements
- Ideal ambient temperature: 10–40°C
- If below 5°C, both the construction environment and adhesive should be heated.
- If below 0°C or above 40°C, construction should be stopped to prevent improper curing or fast reaction, which can compromise adhesive strength.
5. Material Weighing
- Weigh the two-component adhesive according to the ratio specified in the instruction manual.
6. Material Quality Precautions
- Avoid using sea sand containing high levels of calcium, magnesium, sodium, and other ions.
- Avoid groundwater with high mineral content as mixing water to minimize the introduction of unwanted metal ions.
