The Stone Complies with European Environmental Protection Standards
Many people worry about the potential radiation effects of limestone dining tables. However, in China, limestone furniture is required to meet strict standards for durability, environmental protection, and radioactivity. In reality, natural limestone has very low radioactivity and does not pose a health risk. The higher radioactivity levels are associated with artificial limestone furniture rather than natural stone.
According to Lu Wenjian, the limestone used in the "Youran Space" dining table complies with European environmental protection standards, with radiation levels far below national safety limits. Additionally, the transparent paint coating applied to the stone surface modifies the resonance of the stone's magnetic field with the human body. This coating also makes the countertop resistant to oil stains, easier to clean, and reduces the cold feel of limestone surfaces.
Tips for Cleaning and Maintenance
Limestone is a porous material, making it susceptible to stains. Lu Wenjian suggests the following care and maintenance tips:
- Use minimal water when cleaning to avoid damage.
- Regularly wipe the surface with a slightly damp cloth and a mild detergent.
- After cleaning, wipe dry and polish with a soft cloth to maintain the shine.
- For minor scratches, use special limestone cleaners and care agents.
Geological Origin of Cream Limestone Tiles
Cream limestone tiles are formed through metamorphic deposits of limestone, composed mainly of calcium carbonate and calcium magnesium carbonate. The pure form of calcium carbonate is white, but the presence of mineral impurities gives limestone various colors and patterns:
- Iron ions → Red
- Ferrous ions → Yellow
- Serpentine → Green
- Diopside → Blue
Despite being prone to deterioration in humid, acidic environments, limestone can last for a long time in dry conditions with proper rain protection. The purest cream limestone, used for carving, is white with visible crystal structures. The internal crystals give carved limestone a unique luster, making it a highly polished, luxurious material often used for sculptures and architectural decoration.
