While you can easily apply a thin set to the back of the tile, cut a small notch and stick it into the wall, the notch trowel is too wide to fit into the room. I also found that it helps to turn the tile upside down, then turn it over and cut it on the other side. If you apply a thinner set, it dries out, but you need to make sure your tile is the right size.
