Introduction
Carrara marble penny tile is widely used in the decoration of floors, walls, and countertops. Through a combination of natural stone and artistic design, intricate patterns are created using different mosaic techniques.
Mosaic products can be categorized into:
- Flat mosaic
- Three-dimensional mosaic
- Relief mosaic
- Arc board mosaic
- Solid column mosaic
- Mosaic parquet
Each type has unique characteristics and applications, with specialized processing techniques.
Types of Three-Dimensional Mosaic
The three-dimensional mosaic is an evolution from traditional flat mosaic, adding depth and texture to the patterns. The processing technology is similar to flat mosaic, but with one key difference:
- After bonding, the thickness of the pieces exceeds the mosaic floor surface, creating a three-dimensional effect.
There are two types of three-dimensional parquet:
- Inlaid Three-Dimensional Parquet – The design is inlaid into the base structure of the mosaic.
- Surface-Adhesive Three-Dimensional Parquet – The design is glued onto a stone base plate and protrudes from the surface.
Each of these techniques requires different processing methods.
Processing Steps for Three-Dimensional Mosaic & Arc Board Mosaic
1. Material Selection
- Follow the standard parquet material selection guidelines.
- Ensure color consistency between unconventional thickness materials and conventional thickness materials.
2. Material Preparation
- For unconventional thickness materials (e.g., 25mm, 30mm, 35mm), use cutting equipment to size the material accordingly.
- If a matte sheet requires polishing, ensure the surface is fully polished.
3. Cutting Board
- Cut the base board according to the specified size in the production processing sheet.
4. Cutting & Shaping
- Cut special-shaped boards based on the pattern or size detailed in the production sheet.
- Shape, polish, and refine the grooved board to ensure a smooth and precise finish.
