Arabesque Mosaic Tile Installation Process
1. Adhesive Coating and Drying Time
- The surface drying time of the adhesive at room temperature is 0.5 to 1 hour.
- For large Arabesque Mosaic slabs, cutting and polishing can be done 1–2 days after batch coating.
- For Arabesque Mosaic engineering slabs, pasting construction can begin after 1 day of natural curing following batch coating.
2. Surface Preparation
- The base layer (including floor heating surface protection mortar) must have sufficient strength with no sanding or powdering.
- Before installation, remove grease, floating dust, and loose objects that could affect bonding.
- Do not wet the base layer or facing materials with water before installation.
- Any overflowing slurry around the slate should be cleaned immediately after surface drying using a utility knife or spatula.
3. Blending of Adhesives
Recommended Adhesives:
- AD-6005 Flexible Adhesive
- AD-1025R Two-Component Flexible Adhesive (recommended for wet stones larger than 1200mm on floor heating surfaces due to better flexibility).
4. Installation Methods
A. Standard Ground Bonding Method
- Lay and paste according to the pay-off position and horizontal level.
- Use a serrated trowel to evenly scrape the mixed adhesive slurry on the base layer or the bonding surface of the natural Arabesque Mosaic.
- If the base layer has large errors, apply adhesive to both the base layer and the slate.
- Press the slate onto the base layer, tap gently with a rubber hammer, adjust the level, and ensure proper compaction.
- Alternatively, directly apply the mixed slurry to the bonding surface of the natural Arabesque Mosaic, then press firmly onto the base layer, straighten, and scrape off excess adhesive.
B. Ground Bonding Method for Uneven Surfaces
- Lay and paste according to the pay-off position and horizontal level.
- Perform interface treatment on the base layer surface.
- Apply a 3–5 cm thick layer of 1:3 semi-dry cement mortar (should be compact but breakable by hand).
- Use a template to level and compact the cement mortar before placing the tiles.
