Elevate your interior spaces with Alpinus White Granite Countertops, the perfect blend of elegance and resilience. With their sleek appearance, natural textures, and high durability, these countertops are ideal for luxury kitchens, bathrooms, and commercial installations.

But what truly sets these countertops apart is the precision in processing and installation—particularly the critical step of leaving a 1mm backing during fabrication. This small detail plays a huge role in the longevity and structural integrity of the final product.

After the Alpinus white granite countertops are backed up, a secondary bonding process is required. If there is no 1mm thickness left on the stone after backing, the bonded slabs can collapse upon contact during secondary processing. This results in wider glue gaps, making the seams unsightly and hard to repair. Because the contact area of the collapsed edge is small, adhesive fails to hold well over time, often leading to glue detachment.

This is a common issue in many projects where external corners are bonded using Alpinus white granite countertops. Poor glue quality and detached seams at the joints are typically caused by not leaving 1mm backing during processing. For instance, the glued handwashing countertop shown in Figure 3 demonstrates that without the 1mm buffer, the piece becomes more prone to collapse during bonding.

Additionally, long-distance transportation and transshipment pose risks if the 1mm platform is not preserved. Without it, the sharp edges of the stone are more vulnerable to collapse due to mutual friction and impact between the slabs. Leaving a 1mm step on the back helps to mitigate transit damage, ensuring product safety and quality upon delivery.

Figure 4 further illustrates how products with 1mm backing are still susceptible to chipping if both top and bottom sides are processed backward without protective measures like pearl cotton wrapping or back leather. In this case, backskin protection was applied to prevent damage to the backside.

A real-world example from a major construction project in Xi’an (Figure 5) highlights the benefits of this technique. After installation, a clean right-angle joint formed between two boards—achieved by leaving a 1mm step. The visual outcome was impressive, and 90° cardboard reinforcement was used on the lower edge to protect the vulnerable outer corner.

Choosing Alpinus white granite countertops not only adds elegance to your design but ensures high structural integrity, better glue bonding, reduced edge damage, and safe transport. When it comes to premium stone, the smallest details—like leaving 1mm—make the biggest difference.
